Further, was operation from 1999 till 2003 as a mooring for storage tanker on marginal field development. Crude flow through one product line only (16¯¿½) Decommissioned, sand blasted and painted, stored on dry land since.
Dimensions:
Skirt 14,25
Body 12.50 mtrs diam
Body height 4,27 mtrs
Weight in air approx 225 Tons
Central Pipe: 2 x 24¯¿½ (one product, not used) and 1 x 16¯¿½ (crude oil use). Valves as such in 24¯¿½ system never used.
Body: 6 off compartments + one off central chamber; 6 chain hawses incl. stoppers receiving up to 3 ¯¿½¯¿½ (95 mm) chain equi-spaced around circumference of buoy.
Rating of buoy 175,000 DWT (storage) plus 100.000 DWT (shuttle) tankers in 30 mtrs of waterdepth, with 6 x 3 ¯¿½¯¿½ chain at local conditions. Loading rate 300 M3 per hour (16¯¿½ system only)
General condition: Structurally sound buoy with of course some wear and tear around the hull, but nothing serious. Skirt slightly damaged due to continuous ¯¿½kissing¯¿½ of tanker; bogie rails and wheels in close to perfect condition, swivel 100% correct. Little physical damage to superstructure.
As buoy has been utilized in extremely calm conditions under a very conscious and professional crew, the condition is as one can expect. Personal verdict of our on site representation is that buoy is ready for a 3 to 4 year operation after some superficial repairs and site preparation (adaption: spools etc), alt. for 10 to 15 years after a full refurbishment. Available ¯¿½as is - where is¯¿½ alt. refurbished to ¯¿½as new¯¿½.

1) An all steel construction buoy body having a central watertight compartment, 6 equally spaced outer
buoyancy spaces, 6 equidistant hawse pipes for leg anchor chain and a side skirt around the lower most
part of buoy.
2) A turntable on deck having a boarding platform with lighting system, a mooring platform, a product
loading platform, and a central pipe swivel unit.
3) A product piping system comprising of 3 pipelines with inlet manifold fitted at the bottom of the buoy
and outlet manifold installed down the side of the product loading platform. The pipelines pass through the
buoy watertight central compartment leading to the central pipe swivel unit on deck.
OBSERVATIONS:
1) Buoy Body
1.1) Cylindrical shell plate external surface above waterline marking sustained light pitting from previous
corrosion. Similar extent of pitting and light dents found on the rubbing bars.
1.2) One of external vertical ladders fitted on side shell found partially deformed.
1.3) Side skirt fender-pipe partially flattened, approximately 20 % around the full skirt with 2 support
brackets heavily buckled.
1.4) Total of 18 zinc anodes fitted external of shell found 20% wasted.
1.5) Paint coating of external surfaces of deck, side shell and bottom found intact and smooth.
1.6) Two (2) nos. Towing pad eyes fitted underneath the buoy skirt found in good condition.
1.7) Three (3) nos. Bridle wire 50mm dia. X approximately 12 meters long found connected to the towing
pad eyes and partly stowed over the deck.
1.8) The deck external structure and fittings including bitter end brackets for leg chains, hawse pipes and
stopper-pawls appeared to be in good condition, except portion of deck plate edge external of buoyancy
space no.6 which was found partially indented.
1.9) Internal of buoyancy space no.1:- Sounding pipe sustained rust spots at lower section. Internal
structures generally in good condition with paint coating of entire area intact and smooth. The access
opening fitted with watertight door (with 8 dog locks) leading to the central compartment found in good
condition. One (1) manually operated bilge pump complete with 40mm dia. suction and discharge rubber
hoses mounted above the lower side shell bracket also found in good order.
1.10) Internal of buoyancy space no.2:- Small amount of water found retained over the bottom. The
bottom plate including bottom stiffeners, bottom brackets sustained corrosion over 90 % of area. Light
corrosion found on lowermost part of partition bulkheads. The sounding pipe sustained numerous rust
spots, its air holes blocked with rust scales. Internal structures generally in good condition. Paint coating
at the upper part of entire area found intact except localized rust scale on deck head butt joint. Paint
coating at bottom area found totally broken down.
1.11) Internal of buoyancy space no.3:- Bottom plate partially wet at the time of survey. The bottom plate
including bottom stiffeners & bottom brackets sustained light rusting over 30 % of area. Light corrosion
found on lowermost part of partition bulkheads. The sounding pipe sustained numerous rust spots, its air
holes blocked with rust scales. Deck drain pipe appeared leaking as evidenced by traces of rust stains.
Paint coating at the upper part entire area found intact and smooth. Paint coating at bottom area partially
broken down. Internal structures generally in good condition.
1.12) Internal buoyancy space no.4:- The bottom plate including bottom stiffeners & bottom brackets
sustained spot rusting with rust scale formation over 10 % of area. The sounding pipe sustained numerous
rust spots, its air holes blocked with rust scales. Paint coating at the upper part entire area found intact
and smooth. Paint coating at bottom area partially broken down. Manhole sealing gasket partially cut-off.
Internal structures generally in good condition.
1.13) Internal buoyancy space no.5:- Found the access manhole collar corroded, cover lug plates partially
cut-off and dog locks seized. Access ladder uppermost section & lug plates corroded. Sounding pipe
sustained numerous rust spots, its air holes blocked with rust scales. Internal structures generally in good
condition with paint coating intact and smooth. A smaller access opening fitted with watertight door (with
6 dog locks) leading to the central compartment also found in good order.

1.14) Internal buoyancy space no.6:- Bottom plate found partially wet at the time of survey. The bottom
plate including bottom stiffeners & bottom brackets sustained spot rusting with rust scale formation over
10 % of area. Localized corrosion found on lower part of partition bulkheads. Rust scale formation also
found on the manhole ring. The sounding pipe sustained numerous rust spots, its air holes blocked with
rust scales. Paint coating at the upper part entire area found intact and smooth. Paint coating at the
bottom area partially broken down. Internal structures generally in good condition.
1.15) Watertight central compartment: - Internal structures generally in good condition with paint coating
of entire area intact and smooth.
1.16) No major damaged found on the buoy body structure.
2) Turntable
2.1) Portion of turntable circular rail (10 % of full rail) near to leg no.1 found cracked on the inner edge
and badly worn.
2.2) Some hold down bolts of the circular rail found sheared from wastage due to corrosion. Other
remaining bolts show evidence of corrosion though hidden through the respective clamp plate.
2.3) Heavy pitting from previous corrosion visible on mounting bolts of turntable rollers, though paint
coated at the time of survey.
2.4) Wear bearing pads of turntable platforms found heavily worn.
2.5) Rubberized fender-strips fitted on boarding platform sheared off and retaining plates indented.
